Week 21 Power Rankings

FC Dallas earned a solid 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon, after battling for 90 minutes in the hot Texas sun against the Vancouver Whitecaps. They created several chances in the first half, but both goals came within minutes of each other early in the second - the first from Kellyn Acosta and the second from Maxi Urruti - to give Dallas a comfortable lead for the rest of the game. The win also marked their 17th consecutive unbeaten match at home, a record that now spans almost a whole year, and it landed the team at the top of this week's power rankings.

"It took a little while for FC Dallas to break down Vancouver in the mid-summer heat, but a second-half duo of goals from Kellyn Acosta and Maximiliano Urruti sealed the deal against Vancouver. Dallas was especially quick to the trigger in this one, generating 16 shots, only three of which were on target. The potential return of Fabian Castillo after the collapse of his transfer to Turkey could boost MLS's top-of-the-table team (or set it in line for another transfer windfall) as it prepares for the last 10 games of the season."

"It's still not clear if Fabian Castillo is leaving for Europe, but the distraction didn't hurt the club on Saturday in their 2-0 win vs. Vancouver. The talent runs deep in Texas."

"Many fans and pundits were apparently more frazzled about the Fabian Castillo fiasco than his teammates; on a blisteringly hot day they parlayed goals by Kellyn Acosta and Max Urruti - with yet another superb finish - into a 2-0 victory."

"The "will he, won't he?" with Fabian Castillo obscured something of a milestone: With this weekend's results, Dallas have taken sole possession of the PPG lead for the first time all season. They continue to be favorites with or without their livewire Colombian winger."
