FRISCO - FCD Academy product Carlos Avilez finally arrived and jumped into preseason training today after a week-long absence as he was in camp with the Mexican U-20 National Team.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper signed a USL contract with FC Dallas via their USL affiliate, OKC Energy FC back in May 2017. He was the first Academy product to sign through the affiliation.

Avilez was the only MLS and non-Liga MX player to be called up to the U-20 Mexican side, something he's proud to represent.
"It feels pretty good" he said. "It feels amazing to be honest with you to represent FC Dallas over in Mexico, it’s a great feeling."
FC Dallas currently has three goalkeepers on the roster for preseason giving Avilez a wealth of experience to learn from and build on going into the season.

"I want to learn from them just like any other player and as a rookie you want to learn everything you can from those that already have all the experience in the team. I really just want to build from them," he said. "My goals individually are to work harder and as a team in the year hopefully we can reach more trophies and win the season (in MLS)."
After a warm welcome from all the guys in the locker room, Carlos Avilez is happy to be back in preseason and ready to work hard this 2018 season.
