FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas defender Reggie Cannon started and nabbed an assist in USA's 7-0 victory over Cuba in in the first group stage match of the CONCACAF Nations League on Friday night.
The Americans got out to a rapid 3-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the match, but the scoring wouldn't stop there. The US asserted its dominance against a lesser opponent, and Cannon got in on the fun in the 13th minute after delivering a low cross into the box, which connected with the boot of Weston McKennie to extend the lead to 4-0.
Cannon would go on to finish the game, playing all 90 minutes. He's taken hold of the starting right back spot ever since his excellent Gold Cup performance in the summer, and he hasn't given U.S. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter any reason to take it away from him.
The U.S. will have another opportunity to gain more momentum next Tuesday, October 15, when it faces Canada in another Nations League group stage match.
