FRISCO - Forward Ronaldo Damushas been named ranked #1 on the 2019 USL 20 Under 20 list. This year's edition spotlights the brightest players born before January 1, 1999 from both USL League One and the USL Championship.
Damus has enjoyed a spectacular first full professional season and currently leads League One with 16 goals on the year. The Haitian has been North Texas SC's go-to striker for the latter half of the season and he's developed into a well-rounded forward, averaging a goal every 87 minutes. Damus has scored eight goals with his right foot, five with his left and three with his head – all with a remarkable 31.4% conversion rate.
"Ronaldo is an ambitious forward," North Texas SC head coach Eric Quill said. "His first step is off the charts, he really leaves defenders [behind] and off foots them to create separation. He thinks on a very high level before the play happens. He's not a guy who's just going to get one or two chances, he's going to get five or six over the 90-plus minutes. He's been a fun player to watch grow this year."
Damus' prolific season earned him a call-up to the U-23 Haiti National Team for its Olympic Qualifying campaign. He scored the fourth goal in a 4-0 win over Barbados on Sept. 23.
