FRISCO, Texas - Defender Ryan Hollingshead earned his third MLS Team of the Week recognition of the season after being named to the Week 8 TOTW bench for his contributions in FC Dallas' 1-1 draw with Minnesota United FC Saturday night.
In his first-ever outing as FC Dallas' captain, Hollingshead put in a solid all-around performance that was highlighted by his assist for Ricardo Pepi's equalizing goal. In the 68th minute with FCD trailing 1-0, Hollingshead received the ball on the right wing and played two quick passes with Facundo Quignon and Jesús Ferreira before delicately chipping a ball behind Minnesota's backline and directly into the path for Pepi to smash home.
In addition to his assist, Hollingshead registered team highs in key passes, blocked shots, tackles and passes in the opposition's half. Now with a goal, two assists and three Team of the Week inclusions over the first eight weeks, Hollingshead is putting together a stellar start to his eighth year in Dallas.
