CURRENT FORM
- FC Dallas is coming off a second half comeback against Montreal Impact to finish the weekend with 1 point added to their total. After a strong start in Week 1, they looked to make adjustments against Montreal that didn't come full force until they came back from an 0-2 deficit with goals from Zdenek Ondrasek and Ricardo Pepi. New York City FC is coming off a loss to Toronto in Week 2 and are still looking for their first three points of the season.
KOBRA HEATING UP
- Zdenek Ondrasek has started his season off in style kicking off scoring in both of FC Dallas' matches so far. He has come out in the second half of both matches with energy that is contagious and has lead to a scoring breakout. In 2019 Kobra struggled to get an opportunity early in the season, but at the end of the season he had a breakout scoring seven goals in the final eight games. He has proven that he plans to stay consistent with that trend this year and will be key in the offense against NYCFC.
BUSY WEEK FOR NYCFC
- Not only is NYCFC looking to gain three points this weekend against FC Dallas, but it will have to do it with a turnaround from a midweek match against Liga MX side TIGRES UANL. New York City will be competing in the Quarterfinal of ScotiaBank Concacaf Champions League at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday and then will have to prepare for an early match against FC Dallas on Saturday.
RONNY DEILA vs. LUCHI
- This will be the first matchup between head coach Luchi Gonzalez and NYCFC head coach Ronny Deila. Deila was hired on January 6th after a success playing and coaching career in European leagues. Similar to the FC Dallas philosophy Deila is known for developing young talent, and it will be interesting to see how this changes the NYCFC dynamic and play style heading in to 2020. Since joining NYCFC as their head coach Deila has seen success in Champions League but has yet to find success in MLS matches.
