CHASING FIRST ROAD WIN

  • Saturday's matchup away against Minnesota United offers FC Dallas a chance to get its first road win of 2021. But it won't be easy. Dallas has only played at MNUFC's Allianz Field three times since it opened in 2019 but has been defeated in each attempt.

"We need to start getting some points on the road," said FCD defender and captain Matt Hedges. "We've struggled there (Allianz Field) in the past, but it's always a new game and it always starts 0-0 from the first minute so we have a chance for three points."

EL SOLDADO

  • Winger Jáder Obrian found the net for the second consecutive game to become FCD's leading scorer. The 25-year-old opened his Dallas account in the 4-1 win over Portland two weeks ago and followed it up with a close-range finish in his first Texas Derby on Saturday. The Colombian's combination of speed, timing and finishing is making him a tough man to mark for opposition defenses.

"Jáder is an electric player. He plays with a lot of intensity, changes of rhythm and speed. He's really improved for us, not just the ability to play on the line and make runs into the box, but to play in between lines as well. He's also shown some versatility, playing on the right and in moments on the left side. So, we're happy for his progress." â€”Luchi Gonzalez

SCHÖN

  • FCD fans got their first glimpse of their team's newest player last Saturday when winger Szabolcs Schön entered the game as a second-half sub. The 20-year-old recently joined from MTK Budapest in his native Hungary where he scored nine goals and added four assists in the 2020/21 season. Although Schön had only trained twice with his new team prior to the game, Luchi trusted his new charge and gave him his MLS debut 66 minutes into the Texas Derby. Considering the confidence Luchi has in him, we can expect Schön to play a big part in FCD's plans going forward.

"Schön is a true winger," Luchi said. "He has experience as an 11 (left wing), and even as a wing back when that system is played. He's a two-way player who makes a lot of movement to be dangerous with penetration, with verticality, to threaten the last line. He can score, he was the leading goalscorer with his last club, and at the same time, he can press and has energy in ball recovery."
