CURRENT FORM

  • With playoffs just a few weeks away, FC Dallas has hit top form at exactly the right time and won three of its last five games. Last time out, Dallas defeated the Houston Dynamo 3-0 in the fourth and final Texas Derby of the season; a result which clinched the playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. On the other side, Nashville has also blossomed over the final few weeks of the regular season and hasn't lost in its last 10 games, including three wins in the last five.

NASHVILLE...AGAIN

  • It will be the fourth and final time this season that FC Dallas and Nashville face one another when FCD travels to Nissan Stadium this Wednesday. So far, Nashville's low block defensive scheme has stymied Dallas' attack and kept shutouts in each of the previous three matchups. However, with five goals over the last two games, FCD has found its offensive groove once again meaning Dallas can give Nashville's strong defense a run for its money this time around.

FAFA'S BREAKOUT

  • Midfielder Fafa Picault enjoyed his best outing in an FC Dallas jersey in this weekend's Texas Derby. The 29-year-old winger lit up the Houston Dynamo with two goals and one assist in Dallas' 3-0 victory over its in-state rival. His effort earned him a place in MLS's Team of the Week and a nomination for its Player of the Week award. Now with three goals and two assists on the year, Picault's ability and on-field contributions are registering on the scoreboard which could prove the difference against Nashville on Wednesday.

CHASING FOURTH PLACE

  • Although FCD clinched a playoff berth with its win over Houston on Saturday, there's still plenty to play for in its final two games of the regular season. Dallas is currently in sixth place in the Western Conference with 1.55 points per game (ppg), the metric which will decide playoff seeding instead of overall points. If Dallas were able to leapfrog LAFC (1.55 ppg) and Minnesota United (1.58 ppg) to finish in fourth place, the team would clinch a home playoff game instead of going on the road in the first round. Considering FCD's dominant home record of 7-0-3 in 2020, playing the first round at Toyota Stadium would be a huge advantage. Since Dallas is playing against Minnesota on Decision Day, a win on Wednesday against Nashville would be a crucial step towards the goal of a home playoff game.
