CURRENT FORM

  • FC Dallas fell 1-0 to Nashville SC Wednesday night for its first defeat of 2020. While Dallas controlled the game with 65% possession and double the amount of shots but were limited to few clear-cut chances. Overall, Nashville defended very well to contain Dallas' attack over 90 minutes and earn its first-ever MLS victory. Substitute David Accam scored the winner on a quick counter attack, something Dallas will need to be wary of again this weekend.

IMPACT SUBS

  • Forward Zdenek Ondrasek (Kobra) and midfielder Paxton Pomykal were recovering from injuries before Wednesday's game and only featured as second-half substitutes. Still, both players made a noticeable impact and Dallas looked more threatening with them on the field. Head coach Luchi Gonzalez said Kobra and Pomykal are getting stronger so we may see one (or both) of them get the start on Sunday. If not you can bet on them being used as important impact subs once again.

FORMATION

  • Luchi and FCD used the a 3-5-2 formation for the first time this year on Wednesday but switched to his usual 4-3-3 in the 75th minute when Kobra replaced center back Reto Ziegler. Although Dallas looked more likely to score in the final 15 minutes, that could easily be a product of Nashville's defense tiring and FCD pushing hard for a late equalizer--rather than the formation shift. Still, it will be interesting to see if Luchi sticks with the 3-5-2 in the rematch or reverts to the system he used predominately last season.

WATCH FOR THE COUNTER

  • Even though Dallas dictated proceedings on Wednesday, Nashville was able to steal all three points with a late counter attack through David Accam. Considering the success of Nashville's deep defending and quick counters, you can expect them to employ a similar game plan this time around. Dallas will need to be extra careful when committing players forward to avoid getting caught in transition.
