TEXAS DERBY PART II
- FC Dallas travels down to BBVA Stadium to take on Houston Dynamo FC in the second of three Texas Derbies this season. The clubs faced off at Toyota Stadium in May and played to a 1-1 draw with goals from former FCD winger Fafa Picault for Houston and Jáder Obrian for Dallas. Now, FCD will look to pay it forward and take points from BBVA Stadium.
Luchi Gonzalez. "We know this job has to be done away. That's the biggest goal right now, going there to take points."
TAKE YOUR CHANCES
- Over the last two games, FCD registered 34 total shots but was unable to find the back of the net. Even though 22 of those were from inside the opponents' box, Dallas will need to be more clinical this time around to trouble Houston's backline. According to head coach Luchi Gonzalez, it's not necessarily about the quantity of goal-scoring chances but the quality.
Luchi Gonzalez: "If you look at the games that we did score, there was less volume of shots and crosses but we were efficient with the ones we had. So, again, it's about taking chances, about putting crosses in the right areas and spaces. I believe that's the part that you don't over think, you allow freedom. That's the part of the game where the player needs to be really confident."
FINELY BALANCED
- The all-time regular season series between Dallas and Houston almost evenly balanced at 13-12-15 (W-L-T) in FCD's favor. Last year, the teams faced off four times with Dallas earning two wins, one loss and one draw (with FCD winning both its home games), meaning FCD took the lead over Houston in the all-time series and kept possession of El Capitán, the 18th-century replica cannon. After the 1-1 tie at Toyota Stadium earlier this season, FCD will need to earn positive results in Houston to keep El Capitán at Toyota Stadium for the next year.
