ROAD POINTS
- FC Dallas' matchup with the Galaxy is the first of a three-game road trip. After a home draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, FCD needs to make the most of its upcoming opportunities and pick up points away from Toyota Stadium. But it won’t be easy. Dallas is currently 0-3-0 on its travels in 2021, and the team is well aware that it will need to buck that trend ahead of these next three road games—starting Wednesday night.
Midfielder Paxton Pomykal: "It’s no secret that we haven't been great on the road in the past, especially recently. So, that’s something we’re really focusing on and we need to go get points... But we need to play that same way on the road (as we do at home), go out there, don’t be timid and play our style. We know we haven’t played the best on the road but that’s going to turn around and I think we’re going to show in the next three games what we can do on the road.”
CHICHARITO
- For Dallas to get a positive result against the Galaxy, the team will have to contend with MLS’s leading scorer: Chicharito. The Mexican striker hit the ground running in 2021 with 10 goals in 10 games so far. Chicharito is known for his opportunistic finishing ability so FCD will need to keep a close eye on him in the box and – most importantly – limit his service. Although he was held out of the Galaxy's previous game, don't be surprised if Chicharito is fit and ready to go for Wednesday.
Defender Nkosi Tafari: “He’s obviously a quality player but there’s no fear behind it. There’s respect, I certainly know what he can do. There’s respect but I can’t be scared, I won’t be scared of it. Knowing what he’s good at, he’s sensational in the box. Anything outside of that isn’t necessarily his game. Just knowing where he is at all time with good communication and not letting him get a good run on you.”
TURNAROUND
- This match comes just three days after FCD played to a 2-2 draw with the Whitecaps on Sunday night. So, FCD had to be quick in terms of its recovery and preparation. Thankfully for Dallas, the Galaxy also played Sunday night (2-0 defeat to Sporting KC), so the teams will be on a relatively even playing field.
Head Coach Luchi Gonzalez: “We’ve anticipated this, I thought we did a good job with the turnaround between LAFC and then New England. So this is kind of similar. It’s just moving forward, focusing on the next opportunity, quickly doing a reflection and grabbing the things we need to continue and being responsible about what we need to improve."
