Story Lines

Rebound: FC Dallas heads to Minnesota looking to bounce back from a disappointing result at home. Last Saturday, FCD fell 1-0 to the Seattle Sounders in a game where Dallas managed just one shot on target. Dallas' struggles at Toyota Stadium are becoming somewhat of a theme as the team has recorded just one win (and three losses) from its four outings at home so far in 2025. It's been their away form, uncharacteristically, that has been the Dallas' saving grace so far this campaign with eight points (2 wins, 2 ties) from four games on the road. Head coach Eric Quill and co. now face a tall task to remain unbeaten on their travels with a trip to Minnesota United, who haven't lost since the opening day of the season.

Farrington: Saturday's match will likely provide a big opportunity for Logan Farrington. The second-year forward is in line to start in place of leading-scorer Petar Musa, who left last week's game with an ankle sprain is unlikely to travel to Minnesota. Farrington has been named in the starting lineup twice this season but both occasions were on the wing, rather than his optimal center forward position. With one goal already and plenty of good showings off the bench this season, Farrington looks ready to seize his starting opportunity with Musa sidelined for the time being.

Minnesota: Minnesota United is off to a flying start in 2025. The Loons are second in the West while enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run. Their only loss came on opening day when they fell 1-0 to LAFC. What's more, Minnesota could be having an even better season: Although they've scored 11 goals over eight games, they've created nearly 18 Expected Goals (xG). Had they finished their chances at an average rate, Minnesota could have easily turned a few of their three draws into wins and would be challenging Vancouver and Columbus for MLS's top spot overall. And considering the Loons are also undefeated at home this year, Saturday's game promises to be one of FC Dallas' toughest tests of the young season.
