Seven FC Dallas Players Called into National Team Duty

FRISCO, Texas (Monday, March 21) – FC Dallas’ Kellyn Acosta (U.S U-23 Olympic Team), Walker Zimmerman (U.S U-23 Olympic Team), Moises Hernandez (Guatemala),
Jesse Gonzalez (Mexico U-23 Olympic Team), Tesho Akindele (Canada), Atiba Harris (St. Kitts) and Maynor Figueroa (Honduras) have been called in to represent their nations during the FIFA international window running today through Tuesday, March 29.


Acosta, 20, and Zimmerman, 22, were named to the U.S. U-23 Olympic squad by head coach Andy Herzog on Saturday, March 19. The duo is set to face Colombia in a home-and-away playoff to determine the final berth in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first match of the 2016 Olympic Qualifying playoff will take place this Friday, March 25 at Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla, Colombia, at 4 p.m. CT. The match will air live on FS1.


Acosta and Zimmerman will be on familiar ground in the U.S’s home leg of the playoff against Colombia at Toyota Stadium next Tuesday, March 29. The match, which will air live on ESPN2, is set to kick off at 8:30 p.m. CT. Tickets to the match start at $20 for general admission. Seven FC Dallas Players Called into National Team Duty  -

Hernandez, 24, will battle the full U.S. Men’s National Team as part of the Guatemalan National Team in a pair of FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Guatemala will host the U.S. at Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City on Friday, March 25, at 9 p.m. CT (beIN Sport, NBC Universo). The second match is set for Tuesday, March 29, at 6 p.m. CT (ESPN2, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network) in Columbus’ MAPFRE Stadium.


Gonzalez, 20, joined the Mexican U-23 Olympic squad for a tune-up match against Japan’s U-23 team in Portugal on Friday, March 25. Mexico will also face Portugal’s U-23 team on Monday, March 28.


Akindele, 23, and Canada face Mexico in a pair of FIFA World Cup qualifying matches on Friday, March 25 at BC Place in Vancouver, and in Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium on Tuesday, March 29.


Harris, 31, joins St. Kitts and Nevis for two Caribbean Cup matches. St. Kitts travels to Sir Vivian Richards Stadium to face Aruba on Friday, March 25. The second match is in Basseterre, the capitol of St. Kitts and Nevis, against Antigua and Barbuda on Tuesday, March 29.


Figueroa, 32, and the Honduran National Team will face El Salvador in a World Cup qualifying match at Estadio Cuscatlan on Friday, March 25. Honduras will host El Salvador at Estadio Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Tuesday, March 29.
