FRISCO – FC Dallas took over sole possession of third place after winning a high-scoring affair against the LA Galaxy, 3-2 on Saturday. They will now host Vancouver on Saturday in the Whitecaps' second game of the week, as they host San Jose on Wednesday. With a win against San Jose, they could overtake FC Dallas’ spot in the standings before the weekend.

Sporting KC has continued to pace the conference, defeating the top team in the Eastern Conference, Atlanta United FC, 2-0. LAFC is now only three points behind after picking up four points this week, with a win at Minnesota and a draw vs. NYCFC.
Minnesota United FC had a real chance to breakthrough in the Western Conference this week, but fell short in both their matches. They lost 2-0 against LAFC on Wednesday, then dropped a home match vs. San Jose 3-1, giving up two penalty kicks. They will now host Sporting KC this weekend, who sits atop the conference.

Portland remains perfect at home after a win over the last place Seattle Sounders. Sebastián Blanco scored the game-winner in the 86th minute.
Real Salt Lake played with a man-advantage for almost 70 minutes against DC United and won 3-2.
Houston tied Vancouver 2-2 last week after some late heroics on both ends. Mauro Manotas scored what could have been the game-winning goal in the 90th minute for the Dynamo, but Kendall Waston scored just four minutes later in stoppage time.
Colorado lost to the New York Red Bulls 2-1 and has now dropped four games in a row and remain towards the bottom of the table.
