Tesho Akindele called in to Canadian National Team Camp

Forward becomes the fifth FC Dallas player to earn a MoneyGram International call-up in 2016

FRISCO, Texas (Friday, Jan. 22) – FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele was named to Canadian National Team head coach Benito Floro’s squad for a camp in Southern California beginning on Monday, Jan. 25.


The Southern California camp culminates with a friendly against the U.S. on Feb. 5 at StubHub Center.


Akindele, 23, followed up his 2014 MLS Rookie of the Year campaign with another five goals and one assist last season. He scored his second career playoff goal in Dallas’ 2-1 win against Sounders FC in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 8. Akindele also buried his penalty kick attempt in the shootout tiebreaker following two scoreless overtimes. In 32 league starts, Akindele has 12 goals and four assists.
