Forward receives FC Dallas' 22nd MoneyGram International Call-Up of 2017
FRISCO - FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele has been called in to the Canadian Men's National Team for an upcoming friendly on Sept. 2 against Jamaica in Toronto.
Akindele will join Canada after FCD's match against Columbus on Aug. 26 and will miss the Sept. 2 meeting with the New York Red Bulls in Frisco.
With 13 caps since 2015, the 25-year-old returns to the National Team program after being left off the 2017 Gold Cup roster. It will be a chance to impress new head coach Octavio Zambrano, who took the helm of the program in March. As a dual-eligibility international, Akindele made the decision to represent his birth country in 2015.
Akindele is the first Dallas player announced to be called to international duty during the early September FIFA window, but likely won't be the last with important World Cup Qualifiers coming up for teams across North and South America.
