Two weeks later, FC Dallas looks for redemption against Western Conference rival Rapids

Chris Seitz SEattle

Just two weeks ago, FC Dallas walked off the Toyota Stadium field having fallen to a humbling 4-0 defeat to the Colorado Rapids, their worst home loss since 2008. In an MLS scheduling quirk, FCD will have a chance to avenge that loss in quick succession as they travel to Colorado for their second match of the season against the Rapids on Friday night(9:00PM, Univision Deportes).

Is revenge on their minds? Maybe that's not the right word, but there's no doubt the result hasn't been forgotten.

"If [the loss] is something that sparks them then that’s great. I would like to say that our life every day is a revenge and every day has to be better than the last one," said Pareja when asked if revenge is on their minds. "My training today should be better and I have to be a better coach tomorrow. I need to be a better coach every day despite of the opponent, city, rival, whoever I’ve played with, the country, the language. A human being has to be prepared to give his best every day because you can only see the future and the past is gone that’s my approach."

It certainly was no coincidence that FCD scored three times in the first 30 minutes last Saturday against Toronto FC coming off their poor performance the previous weekend, but Friday's match in Colorado represents a direct opportunity to prove to the rest of the Western Conference that the home loss was a fluke rather than a trend.

"It lights a little fire under you like you saw last week against Toronto. We were very eager and ready to play after getting it handed to us at home," said Zach Loyd.  "It’s only been a week since we had our lunch handed to us, so we’re excited to go there and hopefully redeem ourselves."

FC Dallas heads into Friday's match in second place in the Major League Soccer standings with 13 points from seven games and would move into a tie for first place in the league with a win on Friday night.

"We have an opportunity this weekend to show that we did learn from it," said Chris Seitz. "At the same time, it’s three points up for grabs and just like any game we go into this year, we’re expecting to take them and that’s our mentality going into it."
