FRISCO, Texas — The U-17 World Cup is now underway from Brazil, and two FC Dallas Academy products will represent the United States at the tournament. The two FC Dallas products are Ricardo Pepi — who signed with FC Dallas this past summer — and Nico Carrera — who plays for the FC Dallas U-19 Boys' Academy team.
Pepi signed with FC Dallas as the team's 36th Homegrown player on June 21, 2019 after impressing with North Texas SC, where he had seven goals in six games — including a brace in the USL League One Semifinal match.
Carrera earned his third call-up to the U.S. U-17 squad after first joining in July. He's scored five goals in 38 appearances so far with the FC Dallas Academy and made his professional debut for North Texas SC this season against Toronto FC II on June 12.
The U.S. are in Group D of the tournament and join Senegal, Japan and the Netherlands, where they will play each team once during the group stage. The top two teams from each group with advance to the knockout rounds.
