USMNT: Acosta Makes Senior Team Debut in Friendly Win

Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta made his U.S. Men’s National Team debut on Sunday evening in a 3-2 USMNT win in a friendly against Iceland.

The 20-year-old, who captained the U-20 National Team at the U-20 World Cup last summer, was one of six players to go a full 90 minutes in the win and was the fourth player the U-20 World Cup roster to make his Senior Team debut.

Like in his previous Youth National Team experiences, Acosta lined up as an outside back in a U.S. starting XI that featured four players from the 2014 FIFA World Cup roster: Jozy Altidore, Matt Besler, Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones.

The January U.S. camp will conclude on Friday with a friendly against Canada at the Stub Hub Center, where Acosta could go head-to-head with fellow FC Dallas teammate Tesho Akindele
