FRISCO —The FCD-Women (8-0-1) finished their regular season with a win against FC Wichita, securing the top seed in their conference heading into playoffs.
FC Dallas gave up a counter-attack goal in the first half to go down 1-0. It was the first time all season that the team has been losing.
They evened up the score eight minutes later after an own goal.
Addi McCain later scored a goal to give FCD the lead, but Wichita bounced back quickly. Within a minute, Wichita was able to tie the game back up before halftime.
The second half was controlled by FC Dallas and 22 minutes into the half, Belicia Mendiola was able to capitalize on a Wichita defensive mistake. FCD was able to hold on to their 3-2 lead.
The team outscored opponents 39-9 in the regular season and will host Mexican-side Monterrey CF on Sunday at Dr. Pink Stadium at 8 p.m.
They will then will get ready for the playoffs to start on July 13th.
