FRISCO – The FC Dallas WPSL team imposed their will on Texas Spurs FC from the first whistle to the last on Wednesday with a 5-1 victory.
Just 15 seconds into the game, center midfielder Kaycie Tillman won a tone-setting tackle in the middle of the field.
FCD dominated possession early, but they had some struggles getting good looks in the final third. Finally, in the 13th minute, forward Madison Haley, of Stanford, sniped a shot into the bottom right corner from 25 yards out to take 1-0 lead.

FCD won a corner in the 31st minute and defender Chelsea Surpis whipped in a cross that Julie Jones rose up for and headed into the back of the net.
Dallas had a quick letdown, giving up a goal two minutes later. The Spurs had a free kick from 50 yards out and won a header that went towards the far corner. FCD goalie Dani Greenlee fully extended to try to make that save, but the ball trickled into the corner to cut the lead to 2-1.
As quickly as FCD let-up after a goal, they recovered almost as fast.
In the 37th minute, Madison Haley followed up a Chelsee Washington shot to put in her second goal of the game.
After taking a 3-1 lead into the second half, FCD slowed the game down in the second half and stayed patient in their attack.
The floodgates reopened after a Spurs yellow card in the 61st minute.
As lightning was seen in the distance, the FCD offense started to light it up. One minute after the yellow card, Dallas’ Kaycie Tillman and Haley had a 2v0 with just the goalie to beat, and Tillman slid the ball to Haley to take a 4-1 lead.
And then even before the next bolt of lightning was seen, Haley again beat the Spurs goalkeeper to score her fourth of the game and to take a 5-1 lead.
Haley was subsequently subbed out of the game. After an array of substitutions for FCD over the next 20 minutes, the team was able to stay strong defensively and control the midfield.
The game was called by the referee n the 85th minute due to the lightning.
FCD is now 5-0-1 and sitting in first place in the Southwest Conference. They have outscored teams 15-2 in two games at home. Their next match is at home, at Dr. Pink Stadium, on Friday against Fortuna Tulsa at 7 p.m. The two teams tied 1-1 in their first match against each other on June 5.
