FRISCO, Texas – A product of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Shaquell Moore was part of a small group of FC Dallas Academy players that joined the FC Dallas first team during various training sessions this week.
“We are very happy to have Shaquell Moore training with the FC Dallas first team,” said FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo. “Shaquell received a wonderful soccer education from Director of Soccer Scott Dean and his coaching staff at IMG Academy. We have been very impressed with him since his arrival.”
Moore, 17, was most-recently called into a U.S. Under-18 National Team camp by head coach Javier Perez on Sept. 17, 2013. The defender earned a position on the 18-man roster that Perez compiled for a four-team international tournament in Limoges, France, from Oct. 4 through Oct. 16, 2013.
“Our intention is to have Moore officially join the FC Dallas Academy, where we can continue his development in live matches,” Clavijo said. “We are confident he can build on the solid foundation he has gained from IMG Academy. We are also very proud to be able to assist in the development of a U.S. Youth National Team player.”
Moore started and played the full 90 minutes in all three matches the U.S. U-18’s played in France, which included a 2-2 draw with France, a 1-0 win against the Czech Republic and a 2-0 victory against Poland. In each match, Moore shared a spot in the starting 11 with former FC Dallas Academy player Emerson Hyndman.
“I have had the pleasure of observing Shaquell train with the first team,” added FCDY Academy Coach, Luchi Gonzalez. “Although he is young and is still maturing his game, he has shown the tools and mindset needed to play at the next level. His willingness to learn will carry him in this process, which is a reflection of the education he received at IMG Academy. I look forward to seeing him develop further with his continued exposure to the first team.”
