FRISCO - After the first day of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup and the second day of GA Cup on Sunday, all FC Dallas-affiliated teams went 10-10-4 on the day, including a perfect 6-0 record for the Academy teams.
U-18s Dismantle Defending Champs
The FCD U-18s opened their Dallas Cup account with a 5-0, start-to-finish dominating performance over the defending-champion Everton U-18s. Last year, Dallas watched as Everton celebrated a Semifinal win on their own field at Toyota Stadium. U-16s Get Must-Win, but Eliminated from Semis
After dropping their first GA Cup match on Friday to Independiente del Valle, 1-0, the 16s responded with a 2-0 victory (Nathan Toledo, Brayan Padilla) over the Real Salt Lake U-16s in a must-win to keep their tournament alive for the time being. Later on, however, Independiente del Valle beat Real Madrid, 2-1, and eliminated FCD from Semifinal contention (if FCD win, IDV loses Tues., tie-breaker would be head-to-head, which IDV won, 1-0).
FCD will face Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid on Tuesday night at 6:15 with a second place finish in the Group up for grabs.
Dominating Youngsters
The four youngest Academy sides all delivered shutout performances playing up an age group in their Dallas Cup openers. The 15s beat Estudiantes, 5-0. The 14s earned a 17-0 win over Ravenswood School (UK). The 13s topped the Kent Schools FA U-14s, 3-0. And the 12s took a 5-0 over the Edmonton Strikers U-13s.
