FRISCO, Texas — What a Friday night in Prague for FC Dallas striker Zdenek Ondrasek.
The Kobra made his international debut for the Czech Republic after being subbed on in the 65th minute. Just 20 minutes later in the 85th minute, Ondrasek connected his right boot to an incoming cross and fired a shot past England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to give the Czech Republic a 2-1 lead. It would eventually be the game-winner as England had no response to Ondrasek's goal.
"The start of the match was not good but it was a great team performance in the end," Ondrasek said after the match. "I just wanted to hit the ball right and put it in the net. I saw tears in the eyes of my father probably for the first time in my life. It's a great win and great feeling."
Ondrasek was called up to the Czech National Team for the first time in his professional career for this game in what was a crucial win for EURO Championship 2020 Qualifiers. He will have another opportunity Monday night to add to his goal tally when the Czech Republic take on Northern Ireland in an international friendly.
