FRISCO, Texas - Forward Bernard Kamungo was named USL League One Player of the Week after his two-goal performance in the club's 4-1 comeback win over New England Revolution II at Choctaw Stadium Saturday night.
Kamungo - who joined North Texas after impressing in its open tryouts in January - scored the go-ahead go in the 57th minute after receiving a pass from Blaine Ferri and finishing confidently in the bottom corner. The 19-year-old then scored his second and the team's fourth goal of the night after chipping New England's goalkeeper from close range to register his first brace at the professional level.
Defender Eddie Munjoma joins Kamungo in USL's Team of the Week after notching a goal and an assist. Munjoma scored the equalizer in the 10th minute and provided the assist for Kamungo's final goal of the game. It's the McKinney native's second Team of the Week appearance of the season.
Goalkeeper Richard Sanchez also earned his first Team of the Week appearance after making six saves to help secure the 4-1 win.
