FRISCO, Texas - North Texas SC forward Kalil ElMedkhar and defender Nkosi Tafari have been included in USL League One's Team of the Week for their exploits in the club's 3-0 victory over defending champions Greenville Triumph at Globe Life Park Sunday night.
ElMedkhar stole the show with an audacious curling effort from well outside the box to extend North Texas' lead to 2-0 in the first half. Aside from his goal (which was the first of his pro career), ElMedkhar registered 35 touches, 26 passes and one tackle.
In his first North Texas game of the season, Tafari anchored the defense and helped the team earn a clean sheet against the reigning champs. The center back also contributed on the offensive side of things by scoring the third and final goal of the day with an opportunistic first-time finish. Tafari had a team-high five clearances, four interceptions and an 81% passing accuracy.
