FRISCO, Texas - North Texas SC midfielder Kalil ElMedkhar has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for his performance in the club's 2-2 draw with Union Omaha Sunday night.
ElMedkhar recorded a goal and assist to help the club earn a point at home at Choctaw Stadium. Seven minutes after falling behind 1-0, Blaine Ferri played a chipped ball in behind for ElMedkhar who calmly finished into the bottom corner for his third goal of the season.
Eight minutes after halftime, ElMedkhar gathered the ball near midfield and played an outside-the-foot pass to Freddy Vargas behind Omaha's line and the Venezuelan gave North Texas the 2-1 lead. ElMedkhar also led the team in key passes (3), crosses (4), aerial duels (6) and tackles (3). It's 22-year-old's fourth Team of the Week honor after just seven appearances.
