FRISCO, Texas - Midfielder Nicky Hernandez was named USL League One Player of the Week after scoring the lone goal in the club's 1-0 win over North Carolina FC at WakeMed Park Sunday afternoon.
In the 41st minute, Hernandez cut in from the left wing and attempted an audacious curling effort from outside the box that nestled into the top right-hand corner of the net. The 23-year-old also registered two tackles, two clearances and won three fouls. It's Hernandez's first Player of the Week and second Team of the Week honor of the season.
Defender Caiser Gomes also earned a spot in the Team of the Week after contributing to the shutout with a team-high three clearances, one block and one assist. It's the 21-year-old's first Team of the Week appearance of the year.
