2018: Appeared in 21 MLS games, one playoff game, two CONCACAF Champions League games, and one USOC game. Conceded 36 goals and had six shutouts in 25 games across all competitions, for a 1.44 GAA. Had 63 saves, including two penalty saves in MLS. Started his first match of the season on May 25, his 23rd birthday, against Toronto FC and made nine saves, seven first-half saves. Made his 50th FCD start on June 9 vs. Montreal Impact and earned his second shutout. Was one of six Homegrowns to share the pitch against Chicago Fire, an MLS record. Had two punches and a 100% save rate in FCD’s 0-0 tie with the Columbus Crew on Sept. 15. Made five saves and kept his sixth clean sheet of the season vs. Orlando City SC on Oct 6. Had three saves, including a PK save, vs. SKC on Oct. 21.
2017: Became the starting goalkeeper for FC Dallas. Started in 29 regular season games and one U.S. Open Cup game. He finished the season 8-8-13 with 75 saves and nine shutouts. Had Team of the Week honors for Week 6 and Week 31. Recorded a season-high of eight saves in the 3-0 loss against Atlanta United FC at the all-new Mercedes Benz Stadium on Sept. 10, made five stops in the opening 31 minutes of the match to keep it a 1-0 game going into halftime. Made four saves in the Orlando City FC match on Sept. 30 to keep the game a scoreless draw and secure his second clean sheet during week 30. Finished with 2,610 minutes, 1.38 GAA and 63.6 save percentage.
2016: Started in six regular-season games, two US Open Cup games and four CONCACAF Champions League games. He finished the regular season 3-3-0 with 2 shutouts, including the season opener 2-0 win, and 12 saves. He recorded 540 minutes played. He went 2-2 during the CCL games.
2015: At 20 years and 89 days old became the youngest player to start a match in goal in franchise history on Aug. 22 at Vancouver. In his second match, Gonzalez made four saves to become the youngest player in franchise history to record a win and a shutout in goal. He is the third-youngest goalkeeper behind B. Hamid (19) and Z. MacMath (20) to record a shutout. He was 7-3-1 with five shutouts during the regular season. He recorded a season-high six saves against Sporting KC on Sept. 18. He stopped two penalty kicks by Seattle players to help his team advance to Western Conference Final. His 0.91 goals against average led all goalkeepers in MLS this season.
2014: Backed up goalkeepers Chris Seitz and Raul Fernandez seven times, including two of FC Dallas’ three MLS Cup Playoff matches. Played 90 minutes for FC Dallas Reserves in a 3-0 loss to the Rochester Rhinos in a USL PRO match on July 11.
2019: Received his third international call up in March for the U.S. Men’s National Team for friendlies against Ecuador and Chile. Received his fourth call up, second of the year, in late August for games in September.
2017: Made a one-time switch to represent the U.S. National Team on international level after representing Mexico at the youth level. He was called up by the US national team for the 2017 Gold Cup knockout stage 23-man roster in July and again in November for an international friendly against Portugal.
2016: He was called up by the Mexican Under-23 National Team training camp 4 times. Started in two Mexico U-20 games and had six saves.
2015: He was called up by the Mexican Under-23 National Team training camp, after declining to join the US national team’s training camp in January. Made two saves in a penalty kick shootout, helping Mexico win the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship for the 13th time (vs. Panama 4-2 on PKs after a 1-1 draw) and qualify for the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup by virtue of finishing top in its group.
Gonzalez made his first appearance with the FC Dallas Development Academy’s U-16 team on Sept. 26, 2010. The FC Dallas Academy had an 18-8-6 record in matches in which Gonzalez appeared. Between stints with FC Dallas’ U-16 and U-18 Development Academy teams, the 6-foot-4 goalkeeper logged 2,145 minutes, collected five shutouts and allowed just 1.16 goals per 90 minutes played.
