Academy Update: Teams allow one goal across five games vs. Rush

Academy Update: 2/15

FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams posted four shutouts and one narrow loss over the weekend as they traveled to Houston to take on the Texas Rush. The lone loss was a 1-0 result as the teams outscored their opponents 14-1, collectively.

FC Dallas U-18s: 2
Texas Rush: 0

The U-18s played the Texas Rush to a scoreless first half before breaking through midway through the second half with two goals in rapid succession. Forward Bobby Edet dispossessed a Rush defender and put himself in one-on-one with the goalkeeper to score the first goal of the match in the 67th minute.

A minute later FC Dallas earned a free kick that was taken by Aaron Meyer and redirected across the goal by defender Christian De Luna for Ethan Sonis to finish for the 2-0 lead. Goalkeeper Caleb Underwood and the backline of De Luna, Alex Dominguez, Fernando Laverde and Troy Reeves earned FCD's sixth shutout of the season with the clean sheet.

The U-18s are third in a tight race for the Frontier Division behind the first place Dallas Texans and second place Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas U-16s: 4
Texas Rush: 0

The U-16s posted a convincing 4-0 win over the Rush in a physical, high-tempo game that saw the first two goals scored from the penalty spot. Midfielder Sebastian Gordillo converted the first in just the second minute of action, and Christian Ramirez - recently put on Full Time status with the U-16s out of the Pre Academy - put away the second PK in the 39th minute.

Gordillo bagged a brace with FCD's third goal in the 50th minute thanks to a well-timed run behind the Rush defense, and midfielder Coy Craft iced the game in the 80th. With the help of defenders Cesar Murillo, Patrick Khouri, Wilfred Williams and Ryan Gaugham, 'keeper Estevan Vasquez posted Dallas' third straight shutout and sixth of the season.

Like the U-18s, the U-16s are third in the Frontier Division with multiple games in-hand over the first place Solar Chelsea SC and second place Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas U-15s: 4
Texans SC Houston: 0

The U-15s also posted a 4-0 shutout over the Rush last weekend. Bernie Zuazua scored a brace in the match, and Jason Saco-Vertiz and Sebastian Venegas scored a goal each in the victory. The undefeated U-15s are second in the Texas Pre Academy with four games in-hand over the first place Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas U-14s: 4
Texas Rush:0

The U-14s followed the examples of their elder teams with a 4-0 win over the Rush. Alex Zendejas scored a hat trick in that match and Paco Barragan tacked on the fourth in the win. The U-14s are currently in fourth place in the Texas Pre Academy with 23 points through 10 matches this season.

FC Dallas U-13s: 0
Texas Rush: 1

The U-13s lost their first match of the season, 1-0 to the Rush over the weekend. The result allowed the Texas Rush to leapfrog FCD in the Texas Pre Academy, with Dallas falling from first to second place in the standings.
