Academy Update: Teams allow two goals through five games vs. Dallas Texans

FRISCO – While the FC Dallas Academy teams were off two weekends ago and played a match each last weekend, the Pre Academy teams have played three games each in that time and all five teams have combined for an undefeated overall record of 6-0-5 over the last two weeks.


FC Dallas U-18s: 2
Dallas Texans: 1


The U-18s' winning streak was put in jeopardy over the weekend when the Texans took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. But the team maintained compusure and battled back as Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute and Daniel Nevarez headed home the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to finish off the comeback win.


Goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez picked up the win for FCD after recently returning from a four-day training camp with Mexico's U-18 National Team in Mexico City.


The U-18s remain in first place in the Frontier Division with an overall record of 12-3-2.


FC Dallas U-16s: 3
Dallas Texans: 0


The U-16s extended their winning streak to six matches after shutting out the Dallas Texans 3-0. For the second straight match, midfielder Coy Craft gave FC Dallas an early lead after he scored in the second minute. Just before the half Antonio Aguilar made it a 2-0 lead with a one-touch finish and Sebastian Gordillo pounced on a rebound in the 59th minute to round out the scoring.


Goalkeeper Estevan Vasquez played the first 65 minutes of the shutout before coming off for Sawyer Williams.


The win boosted the U-16s to first place in the Frontier Division with an overall record of 13-2-2.


FC Dallas U-15s: One win, two draws

The U-15s played the Houston Dynamo to a 0-0 draw two weekends ago before beating Lonestar SC 3-0 last Saturday. Teague Laughman, Eric Davies and Richard Tapia scored a goal each in the FC Dallas win. The U-15s followed that up with another 0-0 draw with the Dallas Texans last Sunday. The undefeated U-15s remain in second place in the Texas Pre Academy League, three points behind the first-place Houston Dynamo with three games in-hand.


FC Dallas U-14s: Two wins, one draw

The U-14s shut out the Dynamo 2-0 in their meeting two weekends ago with goals by Alex Zendejas and David Martinez. In the match against Lonestar SC on Saturday they tied 1-1 thanks to a goal by Malik Key. And the next day they beat the Dallas Texans 2-1 on goals by Eddie Mujoma and Christian Nunez. The U-14s remain in first place in the Texas Pre Academy League with an overall record of 12-2-3.


FC Dallas U-13s: One win, two draws


The U-13s also played the Houston Dynamo to a scoreless draw two weekends ago, before beating Lonestar SC 2-0 last Saturday on goals by David Castillo and Javier Barajas. The next day they played the Dallas Texans to a 0-0 tie. The U-13s remain atop the Texas Pre Academy League with 35 points earned through 16 games played.

All five teams will travel south this weekend to face Texans SC Houston. The Academy teams will play on Saturday afternoon and the three Pre Academy matches will take place on Sunday afternoon.
