Academy Update: Teams go undefeated in final matches of 2012

FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams hosted Texans SC Houston over the weekend at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex. All five teams went undefeated on the weekend, posting four shutouts and allowing just one goal against through five matches, collectively.


FC Dallas U-18s: 0
Texans SC Houston: 0


The U-18s posted their fifth shutout of the season as they played Texans SC Houston to a scoreless draw. Goalkeepers Caleb Underwood and Jose Gonzalez (above) split the duties between the posts for FC Dallas, with Underwood getting the start and Gonzalez playing the final 40 minutes of the match.


"They were a difficult team to break down," said U-18 head coach Luchi Gonzalez. "They played a 4-5-1 [formation], getting 10 players behind the ball and sitting a very low line, so there was minimal space in behind."


The draw move the U-18s record to 6-3-2 for 18 points. FC Dallas is third in the Frontier Division behind Dallas Texans and Houston Dynamo, respectively.


FC Dallas U-16s: 0
Texans SC Houston: 0


The U-16s also played Texans SC Houston to a 0-0 tie. It was the fourth shutout of the season for the younger Academy squad. Goalkeeper Matt Karasinski played the full 90 to earn the shutout for FCD.


The U-16s now hold a record of 7-2-2, good for second place in the Frontier Division behind Solar Chelsea SC.


FC Dallas U-15s: 3
Texans SC Houston: 0


The U-15s posted their fifth shutout of the season as they beat Texans SC Houston 3-0. Richard Tapia scored a brace in the match and Eric Davies tacked on the third goal in the FC Dallas win. The U-15s are now second in the Texas Pre Academy League, seven points behind the first-place Houston Dynamo with four games in-hand.

The U-14s picked up a valuable 3-1 win over Texans SC Houston over the weekend. Alex Zendejas, Orlando Rodriguez and Malick Key each scored in the win for FC Dallas. The win boosted the U-14s' record to 5-1-2 as FC Dallas sits in third place in teh Texas Pre Academy League behind Texas Rush and Houston Dynamo, respectively. FCD has one game in-hand over the Rush three over the Dynamo.


FC Dallas U-13s: 5
Texans SC Houston: 0


The unbeaten U-13s posted their sixth shutout in eight games played last weekend, beating Texans SC Houston 5-0. Bryan Ordonez, Andy Contreras and Javier Barajas scored a goal each and Robert Suarez scored a brace in the match. The U-13s remain in first place in the Texas Pre Academy League with a three point lead and three games in-hand over the second place Houston Dynamo.

All five teams will in January when they visit Lonestar SC. The Pre Academy teams will have just over a month off before they play Lonestar on Saturday, January 19, while the Academy teams will get an extra week of rest before facing Lonestar on Sunday, January 27.
