Academy Update: Teams go undefeated over weekend vs. Classics Elite

FRISCO – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams hosted Classics Elite from San Antonio over the weekend and went undefeated, earning four wins and a draw. For the second week in a row the squads posted four collective shutouts, outscoring Classics by a total margin of 12-1.


FC Dallas U-18s: 5
Classics Elite: 0


The U-18s led the way with the biggest win of the weekend as they shut out Classics 5-0. Forward Victor Potillo got the scoring started for FC Dallas in the 17th minute on a low driven shot, and midfielder Marco Carrizales doubled the lead three minutes later when he tucked away a rebound opportunity in the box. Carrizales also set up FCD's third goal, as he took a free kick in the 45th minute that was headed home by Jordan Cano for the 3-0 lead at the break.


Midfielder Marco Ortiz scored the fourth goal for FC Dallas off a direct free kick in the 70th minute, and defender Aaron Meyer tallied the final goal of the match eight minutes later after he got on the end of a cross by forward Yannick Koffi. Goalkeepers Caleb Underwood and Jesse Gonzalez (above) split duties in the shutout, with Underwood playing the first half and Gonzalez taking over in the second.


The win was just enough to help the U-18s climb back up to first place in the Frontier Division as they leapfrogged the Dallas Texans and Houston Dynamo.


FC Dallas U-16s: 3
Classics Elite: 0


The U-16s posted their fourth straight shutout as they topped Classics 3-0. First half goals by Livano Salas and Ryan Gaugham powered FC Dallas to a 2-0 lead by halftime, and a 54th minute strike by Christian Ramirez capped off the scoring. Goalkeeper Sawyer Williams earned the clean sheet for Dallas.


The U-16s remain in third place in the Frontier Division in a tight race with the first-place Houston Dynamo and second-place Solar Chelsea SC.


FC Dallas U-15s: 2
Classics Elite: 1


The U-15s edged Classics 2-1 on Sunday. Eric Davies and Duncan James scored a goal each in the win. FC Dallas remains in second place in the Texas Pre Academy behind the Houston Dynamo.


FC Dallas U-14s: 2
Classics Elite:0


The U-14s earned a 2-0 win over the weekend. Julian Jaquez and David Martinez scored in the shutout victory. The win helped the U-14s climb to third in the Texas Pre Academy behind Texas Rush and Lonestar SC.


FC Dallas U-13s: 0
Classics Elite: 0


The U-13s played Classics to a 0-0 draw at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex. The side remains in second place in the Texas Pre Academy behind Texas Rush.


Up Next: vs. Andromeda and at Solar


All five teams will host Andromeda at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex this weekend, and the Pre Academy teams will pull double duty and also face Solar Chelsea SC. The U-18s will play Andromeda at 2 p.m. on Saturday on Field 4 with the U-16 match to follow on the same field at 4:30 p.m. The Pre Academy teams, meanwhile will face Solar on Field 13 on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m. and will host Andromeda on the same field the next day starting at 12:00 p.m.
