Academy Update: Teams go undefeated to start the 2012-13 season

Academy Update: 10/3

FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams have gotten the 2012-13 season off to a strong start. All five teams won their respective season-openers, and the Pre Academy teams have already played their second matches of the year to the tune of two wins and a draw.

FC Dallas U-18s: 5
Classics Elite: 1

The U-18s began their title defense with a resounding win over Classics Elite in San Antonio. Yannick Koffi put FC Dallas in the lead early on with a goal in the third minute of the match. Victor Portillo made it a 2-0 lead in the 32nd minute, and by halftime FCD was up 4-0 thanks to goals by Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta and forward Bobby Edet. Classics pulled one back in the second half on a goal by Devonte Small, but Daniel Nevarez restored the four goal lead with a tally in the 85th minute to cap off the 5-1 win for FC Dallas.

The lone victory has FC Dallas in ninth place in the Frontier Division, as every other team in the division has already played multiple games and more opportunities than FCD to collect points.

FC Dallas U-16s: 5
Classics Elite: 0

The U-16s one-upped their older counterparts on Saturday, posting a 5-0 shutout over Classics Elite on opening weekend. Like the U-18s, the 16s jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the break. Sergio Lara opened the scoring in the ninth minute, followed by Aaron Meyer in the 13th, Alex Radilla in the 18th, and a second by Meyer in the 25th. But this time Classics was unable to get on the sheet as Sergio Caballero tacked on the only goal of the second half to finish off the win for FCD.

The U-16s are in eighth as all the other teams in the Frontier Division have already played two to five games each.

FC Dallas U-15s: 2
Solar Chelsea SC: 1

After a season-opening 9-0 thrashing of Classics Elite in San Antonio two weeks ago, the U-15 Pre Academy team hosted Solar Chelsea SC last weekend and earned a 2-1 win. Eric Davies and Alexander Lim each scored in the win for FC Dallas. After two straight wins the U-15s sit atop the Texas Pre Academy with an edge over the 2-0 Houston Dynamo on goal differential.

FC Dallas U-14s: 2
Solar Chelsea SC: 2

The U-14s beat Classics Elite 5-1 in their season opener before drawing with Solar 2-2 last weekend. Adrian Ramos and Chase Niece each scored in the tie. The U-14s are fourth in their table on the young season, with a game in-hand on all three teams ahead of them in the standings.

FC Dallas U-13s: 2
Solar Chelsea SC: 1

Like the U-15s, the U-13 Pre Academy team is a perfect 2-0 to start the season after beating Classics 2-0 two weeks ago and Solar 2-1 last weekend. Simeon Salazar and Bryan Ordonez scored for FC Dallas in the win over Solar. The U-13s are third in their division with a game in-hand on the two teams at the top of the table.

Up Next: at Houston Dynamo

Just a little over two months after winning the U.S.S.D.A. U-18 championship, the FC Dallas Academy will return to Houston this weekend to face the Houston Dynamo. The U-18s and U-16s are scheduled to play on Saturday afternoon while the Pre Academy matches are scheduled Sunday afternoon.
