Adonijah Reid Returns from Season-Long Loan to Ottawa Fury FC

Reid Back from Loan

FRISCO - Adonijah Reid is back in Texas after his season-long loan with Ottawa Fury FC came to an end with USL's season wrapping up over the weekend.

In his second season on loan, Reid played in 29 games and scored four goals, up from 12 appearances and a single goal a year ago. The forward even notched his first professional hat trick in June and was named No. 8 in the league's 20-Under-20 ranking.

“I think I learned a lot from this season. Obviously I got a lot of games this year, collected a lot of minutes,” Reid said. “Individually I think I did well. I’m trying to evolve as a player and get more game situations so I think it was a pretty good season for me.”

Reid’s time away from the team has helped him grow as a player in ways that would benefit his game and what he brings to FC Dallas.

“[Ottawa] had a new coach this year, I think he trusted me more and he gave me more confidence when I played,” Reid said. “Also with the players in the locker room this year, off the pitch they would help me a lot, and on the pitch, so I think they played a big role in helping me this year to be a better player.”

Although Reid’s time with the USL team is over, he’s prepared to be back with FCD. The forward isn't eligible to compete in MLS play this season, but hopes to continue his development as a player and re-acclimate to the club with eyes on 2019.

“I think I can do much more when I’m the attacking third creating chances for my teammates and decision making,” Reid said of what he continues to work on in his game. “I’m glad to be back, [the team] gave me a nice welcome.”
