FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas’ defense has been their deepest part of their roster, and it has shown through their stats throughout the season. Throughout the 2019 season we have seen multiple players across the backline including veterans Matt Hedges, Reto Ziegler,Ryan Hollingshead, Reggie Cannon, and Jesse Gonzalez in goal.
Along with the veterans we have seen Bressan move across the backline in a few different spots.Since international call-ups have started, Bressan has managed to start every game since May 16th. Throughout the 2019 season Bressan has recorded 6 shots, and last night he added to his stat sheet with his first MLS goal.
Along with the strong growth across the backline FC Dallas has recorded three shutouts so far this year with Jesse Gonzalez recording 39 saves. Paxton Pomykal acknowledged the backlines importance saying, “that’s big to get, zero goals especially against a team like Toronto so hats off to them.”
With the past few games, and this performance against Toronto FC Dallas is looking at this match as a turning point towards positive momentum moving forward. Head coach Luchi Gonzalez noted that, “the boys have shown they respond, and we did it in the league so we’re really focused on the two cups that are left.”
FC Dallas will continue to build their momentum and develop their style and depth across the field with the defenses strong relationship to move through the season.
