FRISCO, Texas - The FC Dallas Girls Academy 07 ECNL team advanced to the U16 Dallas Cup Final with a 5-0 win over BVB 07 in the semifinal Wednesday afternoon at Toyota Soccer Center.
FC Dallas forward Samir Minor scored four of the five goals including an 8-minute hat trick in the first half. She and her team will face ODP National Select in the Dallas Cup Final on Friday, April 7 at 10AM at Toyota Stadium.
"Samira is a duel sport athlete, she also plays for Lonestar Basketball. She's a great kid, works her tail off," said Matt Grubb, Director of the FC Dallas Girls Academy. "She's one of our best finishers, she's really thoughtful about where she places and what technique she uses. She's scored some big goals for us and today she was just on fire."
The FC Dallas Girls Academy had five total teams reach the semifinal stage of this year's tournament but the '07 ECNL team was the only one to reach the championship game.
"Unfortunately we didn't go through except in the one game but super proud of all the teams to make it this far, including the teams that didn't make it out of their bracket," Grubb said. "They have high school soccer obligations as well, and some injuries, but everyone is pulling together and getting some good wins. It's been a really good week for us."
