FC Dallas Loans Homegrown Antonio Carrera to North Carolina FC

FRISCO, Texas (February 22, 2024) – FC Dallas has loaned Homegrown Antonio Carrera to USL Championship side North Carolina FC for the 2024 season. Carrera appeared in FC Dallas’ 1-0 preseason win against Inter Miami CF on January 22. He is eligible to be recalled by FC Dallas at any point this season.

Carrera signed as the 33rd Homegrown in club history on Feb. 21, 2022 and made his professional debut on March 26, 2022. Carrera became the starting goalkeeper for North Texas SC in 2023, featuring for the MLS NEXT Pro side 35 times in two seasons. Carrera registered three clean sheets in 2023, making 71 saves and recording a 71% save rate.

Carrera joined the FC Dallas youth system as a 10-year-old in 2014 and was promoted to the FC Dallas Academy two years later. During his time in the Academy, Carrera won the Copa Rayados Silver Bracket in 2017 and 2018, was a Dallas Cup runner up in 2017 and was named the Wanda Cup Best Goalkeeper the following year.

Internationally, Carrera has been called-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels. In 2023, Carrera represented the United States in the U-20 World Cup as well as receiving a call-up to the 2023 U.S. Pan American team, helping team USA finish fourth.

North Carolina FC are the 2023 USL League One winners and will rejoin the USL Championship in 2024 following two years in USL League One.
