Frisco, Texas (December 19, 2023) – FC Dallas selected three upperclassmen collegiate players in the MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas, picking forward Logan Farrington with the third overall pick, defender Turner Humphrey with the 44th overall pick in the second round and defender Mads Westergren with the 73rd overall pick in the third round.
All three of FC Dallas’ 2024 draft selections were on the pitch at the same time when SMU and Oregon State faced off on November 25, 2023, during the NCAA Tournament. Farrington scored a brace in the 7-1 Beavers’ victory over SMU.
FC Dallas traded the 15th overall pick alongside $300,000 in General Allocation Money ($250,000 in 2024 GAM; $50,000 in 2025 GAM) with Inter Miami CF to move up to the third slot and select Farrington.
"We decided to trade up because we didn't think Farrington would still be there based on the players available and we didn't want to take our chances," said FC Dallas Technical Director André Zanotta. "We felt it was the right move to get a player like him, someone who scored 15 goals this season. We think he can help us as soon as next season and we're very excited to add him to our roster."
Farrington was named the 2023 Pac-12 Player of the Year and led Oregon State to its deepest postseason run in program history culminating with a semifinal berth against Notre Dame. Farrington also led the Pac-12 in goals scoring 15 while adding seven assists. Farrington’s 15 goals in 2023 are tied for the second-most in a single season in school history. The native of Racine, Wisconsin earned First Team All-Pac-12 and Third Team All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches.
The 2023 USL League Two Player of the Year and 2022 USL League Two champion spent two summers with Ventura County Fusion where Farrington netted 22 goals with Ventura County.
Farrington began his collegiate career at the University of Milwaukee, where he scored 20 goals across three seasons and earned First Team All-Horizon League accolades each season with the Panthers.
Prior to Milwaukee, Farrington finished his high school career at Union High with 113 goals and 43 assists. He was named Racine County Player of the Year in 2018 and was a three-time selection to the All-County and All-League First Teams.
Humphrey, a junior also from Oregon State, spent two seasons with the Beavers where he was a defensive mainstay, starting in each of the program’s 22 matches in 2023 where he totaled 1,916 minutes. The 6-foot-4 defender played for the University of California-Davis prior to joining the Beavers.
Turner is the third Oregon State player in three years that FC Dallas has drafted and the fourth all-time.
