Coached by Matías Asorey, the U17s opened their tournament Saturday with a 2-0 win over Miami Rush Kendall SC followed by another 2-0 victory against Chicago Fire FC Sunday afternoon. Their third and final game of the opening round was against Seattle Sounders FC for the top spot in the group. After a 1-1 draw in regulation, FCD fell 5-4 in tie-breaker penalties meaning Seattle earned an extra point to top the group.
The U17s move on to the Round of 16 where they'll face Strikers FC on Wednesday, April 5 at 1:30PM CT. The match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. If they win, they'll face the winner of Seattle Sounders vs. Atlas FC on Thursday afternoon.
FC Dallas' U15s finished third in their group with 4 points meaning they won't advance to the knockout rounds but will still compete in the MLS NEXT Showcase. The team began with a 1-1 draw to Chelsea but lost in the tie-breaker shootout 4-3. Next, they fell 2-0 to New York Red Bulls before winning 1-0 over CF Montreal. The defeat in the tie-breaker shootout in the opening game ultimately eliminated them with Chelsea advancing ahead of them in second place thanks to the 1 extra point earned for winning the tie-breaker. Alex Aldaz's team will begin Showcase play beginning Wednesday, April 5.
