Match Storylines

  • Preseason: Monday's game is FC Dallas' first preseason test of the year while it's Inter Miami's second after playing to a 0-0 draw against El Salvador on Friday, Jan. 19. Dallas opened its preseason training camp last week at The Star in Frisco. Miami is in the midst of a globe-trotting preseason tour that began in El Salvador and will take them to Dallas, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Japan and Argentina before the club kicks off its MLS schedule in late February.
  • Rematch: This will be the second time Dallas and Miami go head-to-head within the last few months. The clubs met last August in the knockout stages of the Leagues Cup, playing to a dramatic 4-4 tie in 90 minutes before Miami went on to advance in a penalty shootout (highlights below).
  • Cotton Bowl Return: FC Dallas is returning to the Cotton Bowl for the first time in almost 15 years. The Cotton Bowl served at the club's original home stadium from 1996 to midway through 2005 (except for the 2003 season) when Toyota Stadium in Frisco opened. The club's last outing at the Cotton Bowl was on Sept. 30, 2009 when it faced the New England Revolution in a league match as part of a double-header with the Mexico National Team playing afterwards.
  • New Additions: Both Dallas and Miami have added to their rosters since the clubs last met. FCD has welcomed forward Logan Farrington (via the MLS SuperDraft), Homegrowns Malik Henry-Scott and Alejandro Urzua, midfielder Tomas Pondeca, winger Enes Sali and veteran defender Omar Gonzalez. Miami added to its star-studded roster by signing another former Barcelona legend, Luiz Surez, who made his club debut against El Salvador — a lineup that included Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and fellow newcomer Julian Gressel.
