FRISCO, Texas - Both Jesús Ferreira and Tanner Tessmann had nights to remember as the FCD Homegrown duo took part in the U.S. Men's National Team's 7-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago Sunday night.
Ferreira stole the headlines with a hat-trick of assists to go along with his first and second USMNT goals. The 20-year-old wasted no time and set up Colorado Rapids' Jonathan Lewis for the opener just two minutes in before notching his first goal for the Stars and Stripes seven minutes later. He added to his impressive first half by dishing back-to-back assists for Paul Arriola to give the U.S. a 4-0 lead heading into the break. Ferreira capped off an outstanding performance by his grabbing his second goal of the game just after the hour mark with a calm finish into the bottom corner before being substituted in the 63rd minute.
Tessmann added to the occasion by earning his first senior USMNT cap after replacing Aaron Herrera in the 77th minute. Although it was a short debut, Tessmann showed off his wide passing range to the limited fans in Exploria Stadium. Among them was his godfather, the Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney, who watched on from the stands wearing an autographed FC Dallas jersey.
