FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas forward Jesús Ferreira set a pair of records by scoring a hat trick in the United States Men's National Team's 6-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the Gold Cup Sunday night.
Ferreira became the first player in USMNT history to score back-to-back hat tricks and tied Landon Donovan for the most career hat tricks (3) in the process.
Ferreira scored his first international hat trick on June 10, 2022 in a 4-0 win over Grenada in the Concacaf Nations League and added his second last Wednesday, June 28 against St. Kitts & Nevis in the USMNT's second Gold Cup group stage match. The 22-year-old has an impressive 14 goals from just 21 international caps.
Sunday's victory over Trinidad & Tobago helped the U.S. qualify for the Gold Cup knockout rounds with a first-place finish in Group A. They advanced ahead of second-place Jamaica via superior goal differential with both nations winning their subsequent two matches following a 1-1 draw against each other on Saturday, June 24.
