HARRISON, NJ – FC Dallas (8-2-5, 29 points) fell to the New York Red Bulls (9-4-2, 29 points) on Saturday night, 3-0, at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
New York took the opening lead in the 23rd minute as Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his 11th goal of the season. Maynor Figueroa went to clear a loose ball at the top of the area, but it deflected off the leg of Jacori Hayes and back towards goal. Dallas was unable to clear on a subsequent attempt from Reto Ziegler and a hard-charging Tyler Adams took possession towards the end line before finding BWP alone at the back door.
Hayes, who was ejected in the 37th minute during the 2017 meeting between the two sides, was on the other end of a red card in the 27th minute. Aaron Royer went into a challenge at the top of Dallas’ own 18-yard box and caught Hayes mid-shin with his boot. Originally issued a yellow, referee Robert Sibiga changed his decision to a straight red upon video review.

The 10-man Red Bulls weren’t bothered playing a man down, taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room at half on Aaron Long’s second goal of the season in the 39th minute. New York earned a corner from the far side of the field, where Sean Davis found Long just on the other side of the penalty spot. Long was able to shoulder off Ryan Hollingshead and connect on a volley that beat Jesse Gonzalez through traffic for the second of the night.
Coming out of halftime, Dallas brought on Tesho Akindele for Maynor Figueroa, but the Red Bulls pushed their lead to 3-0 courtesy of Kemar Lawrence off a counter. The Jamaican sped down the left side to find the end of a Kaku cross and found the seam between Gonzalez and the near post on a low-angle shot.
