SAN JOSE, Calif. — FC Dallas dropped its second match of the season to the San Jose Earthquakes, 4-3, on Wednesday night at Avaya Stadium.
- 8’ - Maxi Urruiti started things off early for FCD, finding the back of the net for the first time since May 25 in the eighth minute. Michael Barrios sent a dangerous cross into the six-yard box for Dominique Badji. Quakes’ goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell made a diving play to break up the pass, but the deflection went right to Urruti at the top of the area, where he slotted it home right down the middle.
- 15’ - The Earthquakes answered seven minutes later off of a fortunate deflection in front. Defender Matt Hedges tried to clear the ball from the 18-yard box, but his clearance caromed off his partner in the middle, Maynor Figueroa, for San Jose forward Vako to pick up and fire a quick shot past Jimmy Maurer 1v1.
- 42’ - Vako would capitalize again off a deflection just before halftime. The striker worked his way across the top of the area with possession, where Reggie Cannon dispossessed him with a challenge. The ball deflected off a nearby Victor Ulloa and right into stride for Vako to once again score alone on the Dallas keeper.
- 51’ - Santiago Mosquera needed just six minutes to make his presence known after being subbed on at half. The winger started a rush, sending a long ball across the field for Barrios. Barrios brought the ball down and found a late support runner in Maxi Urruti at the top corner of the penalty area. The opening goal scorer found the late runner in Mosquera who scored his second MLS goal.
- 54’ - San Jose would once again answer back minutes later. Magnus Eriksson found Chris Wondolowski inside the area before getting it right back in space outside the 18. The midfielder took one touch before sending a bending kick into the top left corner for a 3-2 lead.
- 58’ - Urruti once again played catalyst an equalizer in the 56th minute. The forward played a through ball to the feet of Cannon on a right side overlap, who sent a cross inside the six-yard box for Dominique Badji making a hard run. Badji slotted his second since joining FCD to the left side of Tarbell in goal.
- 62’ - Wondolowski would add a goal of his own to put the home side up for the third time on the night in the 62nd minute. The second all-time leading MLS goal scorer fed Vako between two defenders at the top of the 18 and made a run into the area before receiving a return pass on the left side and scoring his 142nd career goal.
