FRISCO - Two weeks ago, we brought the good news that Mauro Diaz was back on the training field in a limited capacity. Today, he is no longer limited.
As expected, there’s a little rust to knock off, but with each session, his confidence is growing.
“I feel a bit doubtful, a bit insecure. But that’s normal for the first practice,” he said. “I still need to get back in rhythm, but that’s normal. With the flow of practice, I’ll continue to improve.”
The Magician made a brief appearance on Friday in a small-sided match before the team left for Salt Lake City, and the sight was a welcomed one among his teammates. Now, he’s almost through his first full week of training and he’s feeling back like a normal member of the group.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to be on the field with the ball and my teammates,” he said. “They’re just really happy…[and] I’m really happy to be training with them again and to be able to help them when it’s my turn.”
We’re still at least several weeks away from Diaz’s turn back on the field at Toyota Stadium, but it’s yet another step in the right direction in the return of No.10.
