Previewing FC Dallas Academy in the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs

FRISCO, Texas - The MLS NEXT Cup playoffs are coming to DFW this weekend and the FC Dallas Academy has two teams competing for the ultimate prize.

FC Dallas' U16 and U19 teams will compete for the MLS NEXT Cup while its U15 and U17 teams will participate in the MLS NEXT Showcase. The MLS NEXT Cup playoffs include 32 of the top teams from around the nation in each age group (U15s through U19s) and run from this Saturday, June 17 through June 25. Matches are single-elimination and will be played at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco and MoneyGram Soccer Park in Dallas.

FC Dallas U16s

Coached by Scott James, the U16s qualified for the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs by finishing first in the Frontier Division. The team went unbeaten over the regular season, ending with a 10-0-2 record. They face Tampa Bay United in the Round of 32 on Saturday, June 17 at 8:30AM on Field 12 at Toyota Soccer Center (TSS).

FC Dallas U19s

The club's U19s also finished atop the Frontier Division standings with 21 points and a 6-0-3 record. They begin their playoff campaign against local rivals Solar SC this Sunday, June 18 at 8:30AM on Field 12 at TSS.

MLS NEXT Showcase

FC Dallas' U15 and U17 teams will play in the MLS NEXT Showcase, a tournament that allows MLS NEXT teams to play in font of scouts despite missing the playoff this year. Games will be held at TSS or MoneyGram Soccer Park (MG) with each team playing three times over the next week.
