STORY LINES

  • Q2 Round 2: It's a bit of déjà vu for FC Dallas as the club heads back to Austin FC's Q2 Stadium just over a month after earning a 1-0 victory at the venue on May 13. Q2 is the only ground FCD will travel to twice in the regular season this year due to an uneven schedule where the clubs will face off three times, twice in Austin and once in Dallas. Due to that, FCD's victory in May did not count towards the Copa Tejas standings but Wednesday's game and the third match in August will count.
  • Bye Week Rest: It was a long time coming but FC Dallas finally was able to get some much-needed rest over the weekend. The club played SEVEN games in May alone and it took a toll with FCD's injury report growing steadily over the last few weeks: Paul Arriola, Sebastian Lletget, Paxton Pomykal, Tsiki Ntsabeleng, Geovane Jesus, Ema Twumasi and Jesús Jiménez have all spent a significant chunk of time on the sidelines due to injury issues. So, the recent bye week was a breath of fresh air for Dallas' over-burdened squad. Let's hope it gives the team an extra boost as they head to Q2 for another midweek match.
  • Finding Ferreira: FC Dallas Homegrown Jesús Ferreira was the difference in Dallas' narrow win over Austin last month. The 22-year-old scored a last-gasp winner (after a sumptuous through-ball from Tsiki Ntsabeleng) right in front of the Austin supporters' section. It was a big goal and Ferreira celebrated it as such. But, here's the big talking point for Dallas now: Ferreira won't be playing in Wednesday's game...and probably not for another four games. The club's top scorer was called up by the U.S. Men's National Team for the Concacaf Gold Cup and he departed for camp on Tuesday, June 20. The USMNT's gain is FCD's loss and this stretch of games will be a huge test for Nico Estévez's team, especially considering Ferreira has scored or assisted over half the club's goals this year. Wednesday's match will be the first chance for another player to step up and fill Ferreira's shoes.
