Story Lines

Momentum: FC Dallas travels to the Northeast with some momentum on their side. The club is riding a two-game win streak: a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Conference-leaders LA Galaxy followed by a fiery 3-1 win over in-state rivals Austin FC. The victories bring interim head coach Peter Luccin's record to 5-3-0 with the team averaging 2.4 goals per game. The turnaround has seen FCD ascend to within a single point of the playoff line. With the Leagues Cup summer break looming, it's important for Dallas to carry their momentum and finish strong against the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Absentees: Dallas will be without some crucial players against the Revs. Leading scorer Petar Musa, who's been on fire recently with nine goals in his last eight games, will miss out due to yellow card accumulation. In addition, the club is still fighting through a slew of injuries that include Asier Illarramendi (ankle), Patrickson Delgado (knee), Liam Fraser (adductor), Geovane Jesus (knee), Paxton Pomykal (knee) and Alan Velasco (knee). With up to eight would-be-starters unavailable, FCD will have to dig deep to earn a positive result at Gillette Stadium.

The Revs: It hasn't been a happy season in New England. The Revolution are bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 7-14-1 record and a -24 goal difference. There were signs of revival in June when the club rattled off four wins in a row (and five in six games) but have since tailed off and dropped three straight, including a 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union last time out. Part of their struggles can be chalked up to an injury list that rivals FCD's: Seven players were listed as Out for Wednesday's defeat in Philadelphia. With only three days to recover, both teams will likely be relying on a host of inexperienced players Saturday night.
