  • FCD vs. RSL all-time: 23-14-12 (75 goal scored, 59 goals conceded)

Story Lines

Rematching RSL: FC Dallas heads to Sandy, Utah looking for some revenge against Real Salt Lake. In the reverse fixture back in May, Dallas were up 3-0 and cruising over RSL before conceding three goals over the final 30 minutes to only earn a disappointing point at home. With that result in mind, FCD will be desperate to give RSL a taste of their own medicine at their home in America First Field, a venue where Dallas has won in each of the last two seasons.

Make or Break Stretch: Dallas is entering a make-or-break stretch in terms of the playoff race. Dallas sits in 10th place in the West, five points below the play-in game (which is essentially FCD's main target now that the automatic playoff spots are 10 points away). With just six games remaining, the club has to start picking up wins from unlikely places. First up is fourth-place Real Salt Lake on Wednesday followed by second-place LAFC on Saturday at home. Both are difficult opponents, no doubt, but time is running out on FCD's playoff hopes and we're approaching do-or-die territory.

RSL: Real Salt Lake are enjoying a strong season under head coach Pablo Mastroeni. The club is in fourth place in the West with a 13-7-8 record, including an impressive 9-3-1 home record. Encouragingly for Dallas, though, RSL have hit a bit of a rough patch having only recorded one win in their last six league games, with their last result being a 4-1 thumping at the hands of the Houston Dynamo. Plus, FCD has won their last two games at America First Field. Still, Salt Lake has one of the most talented and well-rounded rosters in MLS so Wednesday night's game promises to be a stern challenge.
